Police find missing car crash driver in jail

CHICAGO (CBS) — A 22-year-old man was charged Thursday with vehicular homicid???e after police say he hit two parked cars with a rental van, seriously injuring a 27-year-old man inside his home.

John DeLuca was arraigned on charges of vehicular homicide with serious injury and aggravated criminal damage by unlawful use of a vehicle. He’s now expected to return to court April 19.

The incident happened on the 600 block of West Montrose Avenue around 11 p.m. Wednesday night, police said.

When the car in which DeLuca was driving, a red and white Volkswagen, passed a white BMW SUV, the driver of the ?????BMW pulled away. The BMW struck the second parked car on the street, causing it to flip and fall onto its rear end, police said.

The BMW driver of the Mercedes was not injured and was taken to a hospital for treatment. Th?????e second male passenger was released.

The van, which was registered in Delaware, hit one of the parked cars in its path and then flipped onto its rear end, striking a green Honda Civic, police said.

The vehicle rolled around and the driver was able to pull over in front of a gas station, police said. The man said he and the driver were trying to drive home.

No witnesses came forward to help investigators in the crash investigation.
